Five Minute Friday: Gather

I'm joining up with dozens of other bloggers as we tackle 5 minutes of unedited writing on a single word each week over at Kate Motaung's Five Minute Friday link up.

Alright.... This week's word is...

GATHER

and...

Go....

This weekend we are gathering together around our oldest daughter, who turns 12 TOMORROW!! Is this really happening!? We are gathering around her to encourage her and root her on in her dreams. To help flourish them, celebrate, and excite in what excites her.

We are going to gather as a family and relish in the life God has given the 5 of us. In each other and gather to just breathe. Soak in the moments and dreams of the future. The hopes of now and talk and share about what we see, hope, pray for, and relish in for the future.

I think there is a specialness that happens in the moments of gathering. In the stepping away and closing off the outside world. In gathering to hear each other's hearts and focus on the people God has placed in our lives, to do life with everyday.

Of course we gather everyday around the kitchen table or on the couch to soak each other in, and yes we are gathering to celebrate one member in particular, but there is just something special in a getaway gathering with just your family to explore and dig into each other a little bit more.

I so wish there were more chances to gather and regroup as a family more often. It's those moments of gathering that bring on the refreshing.

I agree with your beautiful statement of refreshing coming from gathering. I love that my motivation to stay connected refreshes each time I gather with people I love.

Hi Lynds - That's so precious, gathering around your 12-year old. I see your family is acting like the security of a ceramic pot containing -nurturing- the roots of a growing plant. You'll be 're-potting' her as she matures, periodically giving her more room to grow, but each season, each phase, is a necessary part of having her come to full healthy fruitfulness. Praying you'll have great joy watching the process! x
