As some of us are approaching the end of the first semester I thought I would touch on how we have our daily work set up. My game plan since the beginning of school seems to be working some although I wish I was farther prepared than I am. I will touch on later why I am not though.
So how do we prepare for the week???
Every Sunday night I sit down with this {I made it using fonts from kevinandamanda.com in Photoshop with my daughter's help. She picked everything out before the school year even started. i wanted her to help so it would be something she would be excited about once school started. Something she created... I just moved the mouse and typed things in.}
My daughter likes seeing what all she needs to accomplish each week, and she loves checking off each lesson after she finishes it. So far it's been a great product we have in our school day.
Once she is done with her work she puts into this folder.
Then at the end of the day I have one spot to look for the papers to grade. :)
After I have filled out the Assignments chart above I then grab her weekly boxes. {which are magazine boxes we picked up at IKEA. My daughter picked them since they are for her. She has been 100% involved in picking out everything we use. It's her feel she is involved in her learning.}
With each box though my daughter, at the beginning of the year, requested color coordinated 2 pocket folders for each subject. I put all of the papers that need to be done that day inside each correct folder for that same subject. Same color in every day for the same subject. {for example Bible is the purple folder everyday}
And here is how they look once everything for that day is loaded into it...
Ready for the school day
Now onto why I don't plan out farther than the week we are on {except for experiments and field trips and such} is because if we face a day where not much gets done and I see a whole month planned out... I personally would start freaking out that we are behind. And the joys of homeschooling we can do it at our pace. Our timeline, and I don't want to become a tyrant with pushing lessons, lessons, lessons to catch up for the sake of being caught up. I want to make sure we are understanding what we are learning and HAVING FUN. So for the time being {and while I work on my mindset of trying not to freak out if behind some} I will continue to plan a week at a time. Although it'd be nice to have it all done and not have to worry about it. lol That's for another year I guess. :)
How do you set up your students work for the week??? I would absolutely love to know! I love seeing new ideas. So please please please share!!! I look forward to what you have to share. :)
{I'm linking up with the Hip Homeschool Hop today... Come on over and check it out! If you linked up too I'd love to know. Happy Homeschooling Everyone!}

I do it one week at a time also. I have a spreadsheet I write the work on, similar to yours and hand it to my older daughter. My younger 2, we just do a couple of worksheets a day out of the workbook. Then we read a lot of science and history together. Thanks for joining in the Hip Homeschool Hop!
I have a basic daily/ weekly schedule that we follow.
Our children who are of "schooling age" are in the following grades: K/1, 3rd, 5th, 6th and 8th. Some of their subjects are independent, some are one on one with me, some are using the "bus stop" method, and the youngest requires the most attention from me.
My daily schedule has our subjects for that day (some are every day, while others are a few times a week), break times, music practice and lunch. By scheduling break times it reminds us to take a moment to stretch, clear our heads and refocus.
I do not assign particular lessons per day. You never know when a field trip, experiment or project will be on the menu for the day. :) We move progressively forward in each subject, evaluating as we go, adjusting and completing.
Just a basic outline to share with you! :)
I schedule one week at a time also, on a simple Works spreadsheet thingy I devised about, oh, 12 years ago, and it's worked so well that I have just changed the side bar of classes for each year. I fill it in each Sunday evening for the week ahead, and each boy (homeschooling three this year) keep all their books and materials in a drawer of a three-drawer rolling cabinet, the kind from WalMart. They each have a binder with their assignments for the week, copies of our Scripture memory for the week, etc. It's simple and not nearly as colorful or fun as yours, but they're boys and don't really care. ;)
You have a lovely system set up--good for you! :)
I really like your visible schedule. I have a "Teacher's book" that I write our assignments in, and we do workboxes, but I love the idea of posting it. I also love your organization. Being organized always makes me feel like I can teach better. Following you from HHH.
