Five Minute Friday: World

Linking up today with Kate and Five Minute Friday... Want to take your whirl at 5 unedited minutes on what you thinking about when you see the prompt word???? Come on... you know you want to! :)

Today's Five Minute Friday prompt is World...

*** GO ***

The first thing that came to mind is Matthew West's song: My Own Little World.

Then I started thinking how this is the "technical" first week of summer for all of the public school kiddos around us which has brought with it the first week of Kids Eat Free that we partake in.

Last Summer the kids and I helped out with a dear dear friend of ours that takes free lunches to an apartment complex every Monday early afternoon with a ministry. We pass out lunches and play games with the kids that come. My kiddos have been counting down to its start since last summer. They LOVE it!! We all do!!

We recently switched churches and we loved learning that they too have their own Kids Eat Free on a different day and at a different complex. Sunday we left church and the kids were begging to help out. Sadly, we aren't able to this week but maybe we can show up to help next week.

I love the opportunities to step out of our own little world and that my children's hearts thirst to step into someone else's little world to change it and show God's love and provision. That they light up when we get to go.

It's such a special time when we show up at this complex and get the BIGGEST hugs of "Welcome back!", "We missed you!", "Will you be back tomorrow!?"

There really is no sweeter sound than stepping into someone else's world to change their day and bring those sweet smiles on their faces and they are just as excited to see you as you are them!

We love summer serving!!! It truly changes our world as much as it is changing theirs!
