Tonight my best friend Amber and I were talking and we each mentioned how we had been thinking about going to get our nails done and our hair cuts with some of our tax return money. To go do something to make us feel better about ourselves. Refreshed. Pretty. Something outside of the stay at home mom motif of sweat pants and messy buns.
{Trust me I am not knocking those at all. I happen to rock them more days out of the week then I probably care to admit.}
But it's been so long since either of us has done anything nice for ourselves and yet each of us said we aren't going to do it. Why you ask????? Because we can't justify the every 2 week fill cost on the nails or maintenance to keep the 'do looking fresh and trimmed.
Is that wrong? Is that right?
I have such a horrible time spending any sort of money on myself period. I'd really really really like to know what do you do to treat yourself? If you love to share why I'd love to hear that too. The longer I am a stay at home mom {that doesn't bring in any income of my own} I feel there are times I really would like to do something for me. Is that selfish? I just can't justify why or the potential cost.
So I am curious all my stay at home mommies out there... heck any mommy at all... Do you treat yourself to something weekly? Bi-weekly? Monthly? Yearly? Anything? What do you do and how do you justify {???? I am not sure that is the right word to use but I can't think of another one sorry}?????
I would really love to know!!

I TOTALLY think you should treat yourself once in awhile! That being said - I'm pretty frugal. :) But, the better you feel about yourself, it actually reflects on your marriage & parenting. You're in better spirits, more patient, etc because you feel better about yourself!
I treat myself to small things occasionally. A $5 pair of earrings. A new purse. The expensive mascara instead of the cheap. Things like that. But I don't go ALL OUT. I can't rationalize getting my nails done all the time, getting massages, designer jeans - things like that.
That's just my world. :)
Awwww thanks for the comment Dionna! I absolutely agree with what you said. I have never been able to justify designer jeans and only nails when I was making my own paycheck. I guess I need to get out there and just do something small that will make such a big difference. I need to work on the mind over matter factor because I know in the end it will help my marriage and self-esteem. It's just so hard sometimes. :) Thank you so much for your words. They mean a lot!!
OK, my go to treat is a good cup of coffee in a cute mug in a quiet house. Sometimes treats can be simple! :)
If I would pick a treat out, I may get my toes done (which is cheap here), order a book on my Kindle, or having a new magazine come down with someone is fun too!
May you see blessings in small moments and find some inexpensive surprises to bring a smile.
