Moon... Moon... Moon...

We have the moon on the brain. We are anxiously awaiting the ticking clock till the Lunar Eclipse will take place. It's just me and my daughter staying up. Daddy is at work and the boys are asleep. Only about 30 more minutes now. I am wishing so bad I had a better lens for my camera or better yet my dad's telescope that hooks up to our camera to be able to capture this since we are blessed with only wispy clouds this evening.

There are way better shots out there than this but here is a shot I have captured just a hour ago.

The uncropped version

It'll be awesome to watch this {the beginning at least} with my young budding astronomer since we are doing Astronomy for Science this year. She has done nothing but soak it up so this is an experience we will never forget! We sadly missed the Harvest Moon a couple months back due to clouds so we are thankful they aren't hanging around so thick tonight! :)

Stay warm it's a chilly one out there tonight! Enjoy watching History and the majesty of God's handwork unfolding right before your eyes.

Goodnight all and happy moon gazing!

*Updated 20 mins into the Eclipse... I totally jinxed ourselves!!!! Grr... now the clouds are so thick we can't see any  part of the moon. Boo! So my little girl and I are watching online. In my daughter's words "Go Earth!" Thankful though to still be able to watch the Eclipse take place. Besides I guess the up side is I am not listening to my daughter say how cold she is anymore. heehee

I didn't even try photos of the eclipse...I've tried full moons before and my camera just doesn't do them justice. It's a beautiful shot. I saw part of the eclipse...became too tired to stay up for the whole thing, but wished I could have seen it.
