Another Page of the Script

Seems lately (ok for like the last 2 1/2 years or so) my daughter has asked for me to make her clothes. Oh how I would love to, but honestly I lack the "know how." My daughter asks for quilts, patchwork skirts, prairie style clothes, etc... in her 7 year old words "I'd like things that are appropriate."

Let's be honest things in the stores these days lack the appropriateness needed this day in age. My daughter wants to be modest and live for Christ. I am no way going to make her have to wear things she doesn't feel comfortable in. Same goes for my boys.

So since my dad and my sister keep telling me "just make the kids clothes. It'll be cheaper." I am going to put my insecurities aside and dust off the sewing machine and try! I don't know what will happen or how things will turn out, but I am willing to try.

That's the first step to accomplishment right?

I am fortunate in the fact that my husband who did not grow up in that kind of household (homemade things) is super supportive and wants to do as much as we can homemade. Needless to say we would be perfectly happy to live the simple homemade country life and think nothing different but awwww home {even my city born hubby}!

So a new page is turning in this script of my life that God wrote. One I have had doubts and reservations about. One I really want to do, and what the element I think it would bring my family is invaluable to me.

Here goes nothing! I don't know how soon I will be able to start as we hardly ever have $$ for clothes in the store let alone fabric and all things needed to make something. {Most likely a skirt first, but I want to make everything from bags to hats. Oh that would be so cool!} Anyways... I really really want to learn and accomplish it! For me and most importantly my family.

So do you sew???

Any tips or pointers?  Websites or anything that would be helpful for a beginning who is wanting to tackle it all? :) Ambitious huh? heehee But seriously anything would be helpful. My daughter would even love to sew little stuffed animals. Seriously anything and everything. We would love to be able to do it.

What an exciting new page and adventure taking place. I can not wait to see where this takes us.
