Thinkin' Inside The Frame

For a couple years now I have wanted a way to display the kiddos art work around the house. If your children are anything like mine I receive a stack of art papers daily almost always followed by "Look, Mommy I made this for you." To which I reply "Oh, Thank you honey" and then I start to ponder where on earth am I going to put this!? Our refrigerator was swallowed by art work long ago so I can't retreat the new piece of art there. I have a manila folder that I store them all in but that is busting at the seams as well. I think it might be time to weed through them all. lol

Anyways, a couple years back we were walking through IKEA and saw an idea we thought would be perfect!! It is their simple clothesline look with clothespin type clasps to hang the pictures from. I can not find a picture of it anywhere on their website. Either way we priced out their exact set up and the cost was $20. Needless to say we never bought it. Wanted to oh so bad but voted no.

I have wanted to recreate this set so bad, but for whatever reason just haven't yet... Until now! Oh we are so excited (really it's the little things that get us excited. LOL What can I say we have no life!) this morning my Hubby hung our newly acquired set up, up. This kids think it is awesome! They are busily painting new pictures as I type this just to hang up there. lol

Yesterday I decided we were just going to do make it. So we went to Walmart and picked up a pack of eyelets, wire (like you could use on the back of a picture frame), and some wooden clothespins for a big grand total of $5.02!!! That is 20 eyelets, 20ft of wire, and 100 clothespins. If you only want 50 clothespins your price would be $1.34 cheaper. Big price difference from IKEA and works just as well!!

So happy!!

Here is our brand new art display wall.*Pardon the poor picture this is located in our hallway and the lighting is poor.*

For $5.02 we were able to make 4 complete rows like this and still have one complete longer row left over that we are going to use in our entryway with our family command center we are creating. We still need to hang the last ones, but I am happy we got these ones up before Hubby left for work.

YAY for cheap ideas with big results!! :)
