24 Verses... Verse 1

Extravagant Grace

So this year I have resolved to give everything to Christ. I (and my husband) have asked Him to show me and my family His vision for our lives.

What does He want us to do and where does He want us to be.

With that being said my first verse of 2010 and my verse I will be using as a theme for this year is from the sermon we heard today at church from the message coincidentally entitled "Lord, Give me a Vision"

Habakkuk 2:1

I will stand at my watch
       and station myself on the ramparts;
       I will look to see what he will say to me,
       and what answer I am to give to this complaint.

I resolve to stand still and position myself to listen to what He will say to me. What answer and direction He will give to me. To my family.

Here are the 3 key points our associate pastor spoke about today in order to thrive in hearing God's Vision.

  1. Isolation...set a quiet place aside for you to be alone with God daily!
  2. Determination... Don't let life get in your way and stop you from your alone time with the Lord!
  3. Heart of Expectation... When the Lord speaks listen... write it down and run to the max to fulfill His vision for your life. Forge through the obstacles Satan will try to put in your way.

God's answer to Habakkuk's questions in this book is lovely and simple... I love it! I am holding it close and know that He not only spoke it to Habakkuk He is saying it to all of us!

Habakkuk 2:3
For the revelation awaits an appointed time;
       it speaks of the end
       and will not prove false.
       Though it linger, wait for it;
       it will certainly come and will not delay.

I am standing still and determined to listen, know with certainty, and be ready to act when my appointed time comes that He chooses to revel His Vision for my life and my family's life.

Habakkuk is a book of dialogue of questions from Habakkuk and God's answers in return. 3 short chapters seemingly packed full with to the point answers. It is a book I plan on reading this week and meditating on.

My first verse of 2010 is Habakkuk 2:1
